On Tuesday, June 13th, Fabio Gigone successfully defended his PhD dissertation "States of Proximity – Privacy under Louis XIV in Versailles".

The defence took place at the Royal Danish Academy, as the research had been a collaboration between Centre for Privacy Studies at University of Copenhagen and The Royal Danish Academy. The assessment committee consisted of Professor Mari Hvattum from the Institute of Architecture at The Oslo School of Architecture and Design, Professor Maria Fabricius Hansen from the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies at University of Copenhagen, and the chair of committee Professor (MSO) Kirsten Marie Raahauge from the Institute of Architecture and Design at the Royal Danish Academy – Architecture, Design, Conservation. Fabio's principle supervisor was Professor Peter Thule Kristensen from the Institute of Architecture and Design,
at the Royal Danish Academy - Architecture, Design, Conservation, and co-supervisor Maarten Delbeke, Chair of the History and Theory of Architecture, Department of Architecture, Eidgenössische Technische Hochschule (ETH) Zürich.

The questions from the assessment committee were enlightening and Fabio received praise for his immense research. The discussion was to a great extent centred around the concept of privacy.

We are all very happy and proud to see Fabio receive his PhD degree, and we are looking forward to seeing where his research will lead him in the future.
