Online launch on 21 October (16-17.30) of special issue of Urban Forum, co-edited by CAS’s Amanda Hammar

On Wednesday 21 October, 16.00 – 17.30 (CET/ GMT +2), there will be an online launch of a special issue of Urban Forum, entitled Juxtacities: Urban Difference, Divides, Authority and Citizenship in the Global South, co-edited by Amanda Hammar and Marianne Millstein.

In addition to a substantive conceptual introduction to the juxtacity approach by the guest editors, the issue includes seven empirically grounded articles – four African and three Asian cases – that each use the juxtacity approach in their own ways, and two reflective essays from renowned global south/southeastern urban scholars Faranak Miraftab and Oren Yiftachel.

Springer has provided free access to the special issue during the month of October. Access by clicking here.

The launch will include presentations by the special issue editors, by one of the managing editors of Urban Forum, Sophie Oldfield, herself a well-known urban scholar, and by two of the younger contributors (Samuel Shearer and Faizaan Qayyum). Additionally, internationally renowned urban scholar Vanessa Watson will act as commentator.  Please join us this event to discuss the notion of juxtacity and its relevance for contemporary urban thinking.
