After seven years with bees at South Campus, theologian and associate professor emerita Gitte Buch-Hansen is handing over responsibility. But the story of the beehives is about much more than honey. It is about cultural history, community, and a question that the bees brought with them: What happened when people discovered that the bee king was actually a queen?

The book was developed as part of the research project The European Qur’an (EuQu), in which Professor Jan Loop from the Department of Biblical Exegesis was one of the Principal Investigators. The prize is awarded to works that promote dialogue and reflection on religion, culture and society. The award ceremony will take place in October 2026 in Paris.
