How to become a PhD student
In Denmark, PhD programmes are subject to fees. As well as applying for enrolment in the PhD School, prospective students also have to find their own funding – a PhD scholarship – in order to be appointed as a PhD scholar.

Applicants who respond to a vacancy announcement and apply for a position as a PhD scholar at Faculty of Humanities are also automatically applying to enrol in the PhD School, as the enrolment and appointment processes are concurrent.
Students with an external grant may apply for enrolment as a PhD student at the Faculty of Humanities at any time. They must be able to provide documentation for the grant, and prove that it will cover the costs of their studies, wages and living expenses for three years. These requirements are designed to ensure that students are able to study full-time and that the Faculty is able to comply with the PhD Order by ensuring that students complete their PhD programmes on time.
