CAS welcomes guest researcher Noura Alkhalili

Centre of African studies is excited to welcome and host new guest researcher Noura Alkhalili.

Noura writes:

"I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Human Ecology Division/ Lund university and a recipient of the Swedish Research Council (Vetenskapsrådet) International Postdoc Grant. Currently, I am a senior visiting researcher at the Center of African Studies (CAS)/ Copenhagen University. My research is engaged with the political ecology of energy transitions in both Tunisia and Morocco. Specifically, in relation to their energy governance scheme, financial resources (local stakeholders and international banks), resources diverted such as land and water, choice of technology installed, effect on nearby communities, just provision of energy and the level of civil society engagement in such transitions. Moreover, the research seeks to unfold current debates around the potential export of renewable energy from North Africa to the EU, and its role to the EU’s decarbonisation and climate strategy with focus on the geo-political, social and ecological aspects."
