In the podcast episode of “Syd for Sahara” of June 3rd, Karen Lauterbach discusses the outbreak of Ebola virus in Eastern DR Congo. She shares her academic reflections on how myths and rumors regarding Ebola can be seen as expressions of deep mistrust and inequal national and global power dynamics. She points out that curiosity on the myths can broaden our understanding of the disease and how people relate to it.

Stig Jensen has featured twice on Radio IIII during May and June and shares his take on the disease reporting from Eastern DR Congo. He reflects on the fact that the political conflict in this part of the country may lead to uncertain reporting of the disease numbers, thereby not giving media reliable data to report on.
