Contribution by Stig Jensen to new publication: 50 Events: Highlights of World History

In the course of world history, changes have occurred, most of which have been incremental and forgotten through history, while few have marked or introduced new eras. It is the momentous historical events that are in focus in this new publication by Aarhus University Publishing Company: 50 Events: Highlights of World History.

The epoch-making events can be viewed as ‘points of no return ‘or highlights of developments that were long time coming, and influenced comprehensively the course of world history after their occurrence . Some have been bad and definite low points in the history of the world and mankind, and some have been great and monumental in leading in advantageous directions.

One of these epoch-making events is undoubtedly the abolition of Apartheid in South
Africa in 1994, and which Stig has written a chapter about in the book.. ‘’ The country’s banding of Apartheid and establishing of the new South Africa, also called the Rainbow Nation , changed the country’s status from international pariah to an example for the rest of world, ‘’ Stig introduces his chapter, before giving a concise and insightful presentation of the dismantling of the Apartheid regime and the obstacles the country faces now.

The book can be bought here. The book will also be presented in Bella Center Book Forum 10-12 November.
