Current research
My current research explores the context of teenage pregnancy in Sierra Leone and how teenage mothers are affected by cultural norms, religious beliefs and gender structures. The qualitative study is based on an ethnographic approach that explores the experiences of teenage pregnancy through the life stories of young women and formal and informal interviews with family and community members. The research engages with the question of how teenage mothers situate themselves within their community and other social spaces after they become pregnant and how decisions are made regarding family kinship.
