Named person
Good research practice means conducting research responsibly, with integrity and transparency. This includes, among other things, the proper handling of data and sources, clear agreements on authorship and collaboration, and due consideration of research ethics.
The Faculty of Theology has appointed a Named Person to provide advice on good research practice. The Named Person can advise on how to ensure good research practice in specific research contexts and can also handle enquiries concerning possible breaches of good research practice or research misconduct.
You can therefore contact the Named Person if you have questions or would like advice on a specific issue. This may, for example, concern authorship, research ethics, plagiarism or collaboration between researchers. You can also contact the Named Person if you suspect that good research practice has not been observed.
The Named Person can provide advice and help clarify an issue but does not replace the bodies formally responsible for handling cases concerning breaches of good research practice or research misconduct.
Enquiries are treated confidentially. However, if there are reasonable grounds to suspect research misconduct or serious breaches of good research practice, the Named Person may be required to inform the Faculty Management.
It is recommended that initial contact be made verbally, for example by telephone or at an in-person meeting.
