SEMINAR: Researching Privacy through History of Emotions. Paratexts in Early Modern Italy

This lecture will provide an introduction to the history of emotions and its importance in understanding the notion and concepts of privacy. It will be shown how some early modern historical actors expressed and understood emotions connected with their private life, but also how these emotions were connected with emotional norms of the time.
Bio
Jelena Bakić has research interests in the field of Italian Renaissance, privacy studies, the history of emotions, and the querelle des femmes. She has worked on Italian dedicatory epistles as a post-doctoral fellow of the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions at the University of Western Australia. She is currently a researcher within the MSCA Seal of Excellence programme at the University of Bolzano, guest research at the center for PRIVACY studies at the University of Copenhagen, and a research collaborator at the CITCEM, University of Porto.
