PRIVACY Challenge seminar: Implementing eIDAS2 and the European Digital Identity Wallet in Denmark

EU Digital Identity Wallet

The EU regulation eIDAS2 (adopted in 2024) mandates member states to develop a so-called Digital Identity Wallet (wallet). With a wallet, citizens will get a safe, user-friendly app that can be used to store and share digitally verifiable attestations of attributes in a manner that ensures privacy through decentralised technology. The aim is to provide European citizens with control over their data while making everyday life simpler for citizens, companies, and competent authorities.

In this challenge seminar Joshua Vatit Mair and Mathias Trier Reindel from the Danish Agency for Digital Government, will introduce the EU regulation eIDAS2 and the Danish approach to comply with the regulation as well as challenges especially regarding privacy, security, and usability in relation to the implementation.

Following the presentation, we will open for questions and a plenum discussion to explore the implications of the regulation and implementation for citizens’ security, privacy, and data protection.

About the Challenge Seminars: PRIVACY hosts two Challenge Seminars each semester. Here, the PRIVACY’s research team join with invited experts on topics such as surveillance, privacy rights, medical ethics, work-life balance, or social cohesion, to pose mutual research and practice challenges.

The seminar is open to all, but registration is required. Please sign up here.

The seminar will be followed by a reception for all participants.
