Take control over your digital life! Workshop with Kritik Digital and PRIVACY

More and more people are becoming aware of the downsides to Big Tech. Recently, this attention has shifted to a particular worry about US tech companies, as the geopolitical tensions increase. 

The products of these companies, whether communication platforms or AI assistants, are built on encroachment of privacy and exploitation of human productivity and planetary resources. Their business models hinge on making us addicted to their products, their design choices focusing on keeping us captive – both by seizing attention and sustaining engagement, but also in making it increasingly harder to imagine a different way of ordering our private, professional, and social lives.

So, what alternatives exist? And how do we switch over? 

In this workshop we will:

1. give an introduction to the challenges at hand, and
2. present relevant alternative search engines, cloud drives, document sharing methods, group chat platforms, social media and e-mail providers that participants can switch to here and now.

There will be a presentation first 30 mins and then we'll do a hands-on workshop. The workshop will be informal, and participants are welcome to join for as long as they find relevant.

Who are we?

Kritik Digital is a volunteer-run organisation based in Copenhagen, working for justice in the digital world. Since 2022, we've engaged young people in different activities spreading awareness of critical perspectives on the digital with an aim of fostering digital empowerment in Denmark.
