Welcome to two new guest researchers
As of 1 May, Liam Benison and Jelena Bakic have joined PRIVACY as guest researchers.
Jelena Bakic has a PhD in early modern European literature from the University of Porto and the Charles University of Prague. Her research revolves around the Italian Renaissance, marginal writings, history of emotions, querelle des femmes, and privacy studies. Bakic is a virtual research fellow at the ARC Centre of Excellence for the History of Emotions School of Humanities at the University of Western Australia. Here she studies dedicatory epistles and history emotions in the renaissance. Furthermore, Bakic was recently granted a one month visiting professorship at the University of Bologna, where she works on querelle des femmes and history of emotions.
Liam Benison has a PhD in Early Modern Literature from the University of Kent and the University of Porto. Currently, he is a postdoctoral researcher from Centre for English Translation and Anglo-Portugese studies at the University of Porto. His research investigates the meaning of early modern privacy through utopian literature, and examines how ideals of abolishing private property and achieving social harmony through surveillance conflict with ideal values of selfhood in utopian texts.
