Privacy and Law in a Contemporary Context: Mercy King'ori and Mando Rachovitsa visit PRIVACY

Mando Rachovista and Mercy King'ori alongside center director Mette Birkedal Bruun at the Privacy Challenge Seminar

At the end of November we had the pleasure of welcoming two guest researchers to the center for a short stay: Mercy King’ori, Lawyer and Policy Analyst in Privacy and Data Protection, Future of Privacy Forum, and Mando Rachovitsa, Associate Professor in Human Rights Law at University of Nottingham.

King'ori and Rachovitsa stayed for a week, engaging in discussions and workshop at the centre, and ended their stay on a high note by speaking at the Privacy Challenge Seminar on privacy and the private in contemporary African communities and emerging technologies.

Rachovista gave a presentation on the influence of AI from a human rights perspective, while King'ori spoke of the past and future of the concept of privacy in Africa, specifically in the African Charter on Human and People's Rights.
