Bastian Felter Vaucanson has been appointed as the new research leader of the PRIVACY theme BELIEF

Bastian is an Assistant Professor in Church History and has been part of the PRIVACY team since 2018, when he began his PhD studies on intimacy in private spiritual letter writing in early modern France. With Bastian leading the theme, BELIEF will build on its strong foundation and place greater emphasis on privacy from a global perspective.

Pursuing collaborations with Danish and international artists, as well as civic groups and organizations in the Caribbean, Ghana, and Denmark, BELIEF will engage in new cross-disciplinary and interdisciplinary initiatives that connect the past with the present.

Already in December 2025, the BELIEF theme, in collaboration with Dr. Markus Floris Christensen from the University of Flensburg, will host a conference titled The Night as a Private Space: Darkness, Secrecy, and Shadows in the Early Modern Period and Today. The call for papers is now open. For more information, please visit this link.
