The internship of three history students from Lund University has concluded, and it has been a pleasure to welcome them to the Centre for Privacy Studies. Before returning to their respective studies, the interns gave a presentation at the centre, where they reflected on the insights and experiences they had gained during their stay. We share some of their reflections below.

Julia Kjellgren Sten, who has been assisting Viktor Wreström in his PhD project, reflects:

“Being an intern at Privacy has made it possible to spend time in an exciting, multidisciplinary academic environment. It has been inspiring to meet researchers from various fields and experience their work firsthand. The new skills we've learned and applied to our own contributions during our stay have been challenging, but I believe they will be very useful going forward in our studies. I want to extend a big thank you to our supervisor, Viktor Wretström, who has guided us through this experience and trusted us to assist in the work on his thesis.”

Ellen Saarinen, who also assisted Viktor Wreström, describes her stay as follows:

“My internship at PRIVACY has opened up the world of academic research to me in very tangible ways. Foremost in the sense of working directly with a PhD student on his PhD project, where I have explored the world of digital humanities as well as an extensive range of sources. Additionally, I have had the privilege of attending seminars, meetings and presentations with researchers that have addressed everything from project proposals and grant applications to finished books. Through the interdisciplinary nature of PRIVACY and the centre network at KU I have also been able to learn a lot about the academic world of a handful of other disciplines, beyond my own field of study, and the cross sections between them. The open and welcoming culture at PRIVACY has also been a significant factor in making this experience a very positive one.”

Gabriella Qvist, who assisted Natacha Klein Käfer, reflects:

It has truly been an honour to be part of PRIVACY and to learn from such talented and supportive people. Everyone has been welcoming and taking care of us interns. I’ve gained valuable skills, meaningful insights and experiences that I’ll carry with me. I am very grateful for this experience and to experience the academic sphere with seminars, presentations and symposiums.

The researchers at PRIVACY are thankful for their contributions and wishes all three interns the very best in their continued academic journeys.
