Nuno Grancho will be a visiting professor at Brown University
We are pleased to share that Nuno Grancho, former Marie Skłodowska-Curie fellow at the Centre for Privacy Studies (now affiliated), will be a visiting professor at Brown University during the academic year 2026/2027. Nuno has been chosen as a visiting professor through a partnership between FLAD (Luso-American Development Foundation) and Brown University. Every year, two Portuguese professors are selected to teach at the Department of Portuguese and Brazilian Studies at Brown University.
Nuno will be teaching the course "Contact Spaces: Architecture, Colonialism and Decolonization in the Portuguese-speaking World". Through postcolonial and decolonial perspectives, the course aims to analyze the history of architecture and urbanism in the Portuguese-speaking world. Focusing on how Portuguese colonialism contributed to the shaping of spatial practices, discourses, and historiographies from the end of the Enlightenment to the 1960s.
