PRIVACY Newsletter November 2018

Message from PRIVACY

We are celebrating the 1 year anniversary for Centre for Privacy Studies today!

Time has flown at PRIVACY. Since 1 September the full Privacy Research Team has been working together at the Centre, and 1 October, Maj Riis Poulsen joined us as administrator. (You can explore all the PRIVACY research profiles on our website.)
In August we went through a three-week introduction program, including methodological ground-work, the launch of our interdisciplinary approach and the consolidation of the case-teams that work on the first four cases: Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Versailles and Westminster. To mention a few of our open activities, we have hosted a workshop and seminar with Professor Lena Cowen Orlin of Georgetown University at the end of September and co-hosted the conference 'The Eyes and Ears of Power - Surveillance, History and Privacy'. In October, we held the two-day seminar ‘Private Reading in Early Modern Devotion: Materiality, Space and Spirit’ with four international speakers. We also premiered our cross-disciplinary seminar series ‘Challenge Seminar’, with invited speaker Prof. David Dreyer Lassen, professor of Economics at the University of Copenhagen which led to a really fruitful discussion of privacy issues past and presents.
Stay updated on all our activities here and on our website - and do not forget to sign up for the events.
