PRIVACY AT SEA

Privacy at Sea is a collaborative publication initiative started in 2020. The goal of this publication was to gather specialists to explore the different dimensions of privacy in the context of maritime history, with an emphasis on the period between 1400 and 1800. The contributions to this volume explore the social, political, legal, economic, and cultural dynamics at play onboard ships and at shore that would enable people to create or manage these malleable boundaries between individuals, groups, networks, and even governments.
