General admission and enrolment

Please visit the web site of our International Office studies.ku.dk at the University of Copenhagen to get further information on admission, enrolment and housing. You are also welcome to contact our International Coordinator.

You are eligible to apply for admission to the Centre of African Studies after having passed 2 years of exams (120 ECTS) at your home university.

A large number of our international students are taking courses in English not only at the Centre of African Studies but also at another institute or department at the University of Copenhagen. All courses offered in English at the University of Copenhagen are listed on the course website kurser.ku.dk

Exchange students

A part of our exchange students are participating in our Erasmus Exchange Programmes with universities in Europe or Nordplus Exchange Programmes with universities in the Nordic Countries, while others are from universities world wide as part of exchange agreements with the University of Copenhagen.

Exchange students are able to choose between all of the thematic courses on offer at CAS and Kiswahili, but cannot enrol for compulsory courses.

The tuition fee will be determined by the number of ECTS-points. The tuition fee for a 7,5 ECTS-point course is DKK 3,750 and for a 15 ECTS-point course it is DKK 7,500. A full semester is 30 ECTS-point, which is two or three courses.

Guest students from outside the European Union/EEA - tuition fees
Please note if you choose courses (one or more) from different tuition fee categories, your tuition fee will be set according to the most expensive category. For example, if you have been admitted to Theology or African Studies and then decide to take a course at Law, you will have to pay the tuition fee for Law which is more expensive than ours. See the UCPH central Tuition Fee webpage. A full semester is 30 ECTS-poits, which is two or three courses at our faculty.
