PRIVACY Scholars receive Nordforsk Grant
Centre for Privacy Studies scholars Johannes Ljungberg and Sari Nauman have, together with colleagues from Denmark, Finland, Norway, Sweden, and Ukraine, been awarded a generous grant of close to half a million NOK from Nordforsk to conduct a series of exploratory workshops on the subject of “Pax Nordica: Experiences and Lessons of the Nordic Peace, c. 1721–1830”. The project investigates how and why the Nordic countries went from being one of the most belligerent European regions of the 17th century into being one of the most peaceful ones by the beginning of the 19th century. It provides an indispensable case study of successful, long-term peace-building efforts, situating peace as embedded in a network of thoughts and practices, material as well as immaterial. The first workshop will take place at the Centre for Privacy Studies on 26–28 April, 2023.
