Is There a Suspension of Subjectivity?

Søren Kierkegaard is commonly known as a fighter for human integrity and a champion of freedom. In this workshop, I follow recent scholarship in challenging the idea of Kierkegaard as a naïve existentialist by asking the question: “Is there a suspension of subjectivity?” To answer this question, I discuss Kierkegaard’s method of indirect communication. Here, I draw on a certain branch of Danish twentieth century Kierkegaard reception (K. Olesen Larsen, Johannes Sløk, Jørgen K. Bukdahl, and Jan Lindhardt) in order to attempt to formulate a suspension of subjectivity based on Kierkegaard’s authorship.
